Permanent Magnet Rotors
HIGH SPEED MAGNETIC ROTOR ASSEMBLIES
Arnold Magnetic Technologies manufactures high-performance magnets, magnetic assemblies, precision thin metals, and high-speed electric motor components and assemblies for highly efficient electric machines. Our engineers work with motor designers every day to optimize their permanent magnet rotor assembly designs using Arnold’s advanced materials such as L Type laminated magnets, permanent magnets made with RECOMA samarium cobalt or neodymium iron boron, and Arnon lamination materials. Our power-dense permanent magnet rotor materials are lightweight which allow us to produce top quality, high energy efficient motors.
SMALLER, FASTER & HOTTER DESIGN CHALLENGES
In order to achieve performance goals, designers of high-performance electric machines must balance several challenges including:
- Thermal Management
- Increased Power Density
- Higher Speeds (100K+ RPM)
- Reduced System Weight
- Cost / Value Trade-off
HIGH EFFICIENCY MOTORS WITH POWER-DENSE PERMANENT MAGNET ROTOR MATERIALS
Arnold manufactures Recoma® 35E, the world’s most power-dense samarium cobalt material available on the market today. This innovative magnetic material is critical to boosting performance in the aerospace, automotive and motorsport industries, providing superior power density without adding weight.
Arnold produces high performance permanent magnet motor components and sub-assemblies for aerospace and defense, industrial, automotive, and motorsport applications, such as:
- KERS — Kinetic Energy Recovery System, which includes a composite sleeved RECOMA® SmCo magnet rotor for a 50,000+ RPM, 100KW+ system
- Electric Turbo Charger — Inconel or composite sleeved RECOMA® SmCo magnet rotor incorporating Arnon Silicon Steel thin laminations that operates at > 100,000 RPM
- High Power Density Cabin Air Pressure Motor — Inconel-sleeved RECOMA® SmCo balanced rotor, which is part of 180KW system that operates in excess of 200°C.
HIGH-SPEED PERMANENT MAGNETIC ROTOR ASSEMBLIES
High-performance electric machines are characterized by their rotational speed, system efficiency, power density, and ability to function in extreme conditions. Typically operating in excess of 50,000 revolutions per minute (RPM), these electrical machines run faster and hotter while achieving higher efficiency in a smaller package.
Arnold also manufactures Halbach arrays for high power density and high efficiency.
